Responsibilities:

·         In-depth understanding of own specialisation to enable the development of new knowledge, innovation and understanding within the field;

·         Prepare and submit proposals and applications to external bodies, e.g. for funding and accreditation purposes;

·         Publication of scientific articles and papers;

·         Actively participate in the School’s community programmes;

·         Involvement in professional activities where applicable;

·         Supervision of postdoctoral students;

·         Lecture undergraduate and postgraduate students in Public Administration and the doctoral programme in Public Affairs; 

·         Monitor Junior Lecturers and Tutors;

·         Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Director.

 

Minimum Requirements: 

Associate Professor: 

·         A Doctorate in Public Administration/Public Affairs supported by a research portfolio of accredited publications and of supervision of postgraduate students;

·         Considerable experience in either teaching/lecturing/research.

·         A sustained record of publications;

·         The ability to independently plan and initiate discipline and multi-disciplinary research programmes;

·         National recognition in own field of expertise;

·         Experience in teaching postgraduate students.

 

Senior Lecturer: 

·         A Doctorate in Public Administration/Public Affairs supported by a research portfolio of accredited publications and of supervision of postgraduate students;

·         Significant experience in either teaching/lecturing/research.

·         Expertise in independently planning and carrying out research projects;

·         Experience in research participation and management of research projects  in Public Administration supported by published research;

·         Involvement in professional activities, where applicable;

·         Knowledge of Research Methodology.

 

Lecturer: 

·         A Masters degree in Public Administration/Public Affairs or an equivalent degree of an equally advanced level;

·         Proven/relevant experience in either teaching/lecturing/research or industry experience in the relevant field or discipline;

·         Ability to teach at the undergraduate and Honours levels;

·         Good knowledge of the academic environment;

·         Involvement in professional activities, where applicable;

·         Knowledge of Research Methodology.

 

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of qualification and experience, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to BESTMED’s TopCare option and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
