Annual conference

The organization of an annual IASIA conference is a project consisting of several elements (scientific preparation - mobilization of a network - practical organization). It is held in a different region each year to facilitate the participation of individuals from each of the seven regions and so make the Association more accessible to staff of its member organisations. The conference is hosted by a member organization or group of organisations.

THEME

The theme selected for the conference is a topic of major concern for public administration and management. The opening day of the meeting is devoted exclusively to consideration of this theme. The remainder of the conference is devoted to the consideration of current and ongoing topics and concerns of the several working/research groups of the Association

PROGRAMME

The programme is structured to allow each person to participate fully in the work of two groups. Provision is also made for panels and forums to complement the established plenary activities and working/research groups or extend into subject areas that go beyond those currently programmed.

PUBLICATIONS

The discussions of the conference, including the reports of the individual working/research groups, are published each year thus enabling members to keep abreast of progress on matters of interest to them.

The conference brings together practitioners, academics, PhD students and young researchers in public administration and management, as well as contributors from any other disciplines who exchange on a chosen theme. The theme selected for the conference is a topic of major concern for public administration and management.

The objectives of the Conference are to:
  • organize and encourage the production and exchange of knowledge on the evolution of the theory and practice of public administration;
  • promote education and training in public administration;
  • promote accreditation activities;
  • facilitate innovation in ideas, methods and techniques in public administration;
  • strengthen dialogue between academics and practitioners;
  • facilitate the development and consolidation of a community of public administration experts open to young researchers and public officials;
  • promote inter-regional cooperation.

To achieve these objectives, the annual conference is organized around several activities. The opening day of the meeting is devoted exclusively to consideration of this theme. The remainder of the conference is devoted to the consideration of current and ongoing topics and concerns of the several working/research groups of the Association:

  • Plenary sessions
  • Special panels/forums
  • Working Groups’ sessions
  • PhD seminar

Regional conference

IASIA and its members also organize regional conferences, which aim at bringing together experts from a specific region. In 2017, the IASIA and the CNFPT co-organized a regional conference.
