Valeria Termini is Professor of Economics at the University of Roma Tre and member of  the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA). She currently serves as Chairperson of the Italian Government Committee for the Promotion of Leadership.

Prior to this appointment, she was the Dean of the Scuola Superiore della Pubblica Amministrazione (SSPA), the national school of public administration of Italy. She has been a member of the Board of management of IASIA, serving as regional Vice-President for Europe, Co-Chair of the IASIA Task Force to implement “Standards of Excellence in Public Administration Education and Training” and a member of various advisory boards of academic and training institutions, including Bocconi University (SDA) in Milano.

She served as President of the Italian Government Committee on energy and climate change and as Personal Representative of the Prime Minister of Italy at the post-Kyoto process of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, G8 and the Major Economies Meeting (2007-2008). She has worked as an expert in several Government Commissions, including the Commission on the Reform of Civil Servants Training and Recruitment of the Government of Italy (2006).

As an academic, she has taught in different areas of Economic theory and policy, including International economics, Monetary economics and policy, Economics of regulation, Governance and economics of the energy markets. She has been lecturer at the Universities of Roma Tor Vergata, Roma La Sapienza, Trieste, Brescia, Cassino and at the Scuola Superiore della Pubblica Amministrazione; visiting professor at several Universities, including Cambridge (United Kingdom), University College of London and Columbia University (New York, United States of America).

In the early stage of her career, Valeria Termini published books and scientific articles on Monetary economics, financial innovation, the theory of futures prices and the instability of  financial markets.

She graduated with honours in Economics at Bocconi University and received postgraduate education at Cambridge University (UK).
