IASIA Conferences
The annual conference is the core activity of IASIA.
It is held in a different region each year to facilitate participation of individuals from each of the seven regions and so make the Association more accessible to staff of its member organisations. It is normally hosted by a member organisation or group of organisations.
Themes
Each year, the theme selected for the conference is a topic of major concern for public administration and management.
The opening day of the meeting is devoted exclusively to consideration of this theme.
The remainder of the conference is devoted to consideration of current and ongoing topics and concerns in the several working/research groups of the Association.
Programme
The programme is structured to allow each person to participate fully in the work of two groups. Provision is also made for panels and forums to complement the established plenary activities and working/research groups or extend into subject areas that go beyond those currently programmed.
Publications
The discussions of the conference, including the reports of the individual working/research groups, are published each year thus enabling members to keep abreast of progress on matters of interest to them.
Logistics Policy
Decisions as to where IASIA Conferences will be held will be the responsibility of the IASIA President in consultation with the Board of Management.
Conferences will normally be hosted by IASIA members in good standing. In exceptional circumstance offers to host a conference from other organisations may be considered. Proposal should be received two years in advance of the proposed meeting date.
An organisation offering to host an IASIA Conference must be able to certify to the Association that it can provide all necessary facilities including physical facilities such as meeting rooms, suitable accommodation, accessible transport to and within the country/region, and provision of photocopying / reproduction facilities, A/V or computer equipment. Normally participation fees are split between IASIA and the host organisation on a 75% / 25% basis.
The official languages of IASIA are French and English. Translation / interpretation facilities into both of these languages for plenary sessions is a minimum requirement for conferences.
A review of the logistical aspects of the organisation of the Conference is to be provided by the host organisation to the Programme Committee for its following Spring meeting.
Determination of themes for the Conference is the responsibility of the Board of Management. The theme should be finalised at the Spring meeting of the Programme Committee of the previous year.
Registration fees (taking account of 8 below) are to be approved by the IASIA President after consultation with officials of IASIA.
Contracts for Conferences should not envisage subsidisation from IASIA membership fees.
Where IIAS and IASIA meetings are held contiguously or conjointly, separate accounts are to be maintained for all items of receipts and expenditures.
