The  meeting of the History of Administration Project Group on the theme: The Comparative Administrative History of Population Migration, 1800 to the Present took place in Leiden at the Leiden University on 24-25 April 2009. Upon the invitation of Professor Frits Van der Meer, the Group will convene to discuss further the administrative history of migrations.
 
The first objective was to finalize the national reports on specificities of national administrative systems set up during the 19th and 20th centuries to manage migratory flows. The reports will be published in a book (IOS series: History of Administration n° 10) with introductory reports of the rapporteurs (end 2009-early 2010). The second objective will be to define the content of the presentation of the Project Group results during the Panel to be organised in Helsinki during the IIAS Conference.  The third objective will be to discuss forward the next project group theme: Central Budget Agencies or their functional equivalents and their impact on government and the development of public administration. The rapporteur will be Seppo Tiihonen. The guidelines for the study of the new theme were circulated to the members of the group.

A Special Panel of the History of Administration Project Group was also be organised in Helsinki, on 10 July 2009 during the 5th International Specialised Conference of IIAS: http://www.iias2009.fi/www/en/index.php
