9th CEPA - Pan Suk Kim, Ban Ki Moon, Johannes irschik

From 19 to 23 April, the 9th Session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration (UN/CEPA) took place at the United Nations in New York.

Organised by the Division for Public Administration and Development Management/UNDESA, the main topic of this year’s meeting was an important and crucial one: “Challenges to and Opportunities for Public Administration in the Context of the Financial and Economic Crisis”. IIAS is proud to be designated as an official observer.

During the meeting, on April 21, 2010, Professor Pan Suk Kim (IIAS Executive Committee member) and Mr. Johannes Irschik (representing the IIAS Director General, Mr. Rolet Loretan) met the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon who received them very cordially in his office. Professor Kim spoke with him about various issues, including the role of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences. Professor Kim is currently Vice Chair of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration (UN/CEPA).
